Reason #1: Your Car is Leaking Refrigerant

A refrigerant leak can occur at any location in the air conditioning labyrinth, and so it's sometimes difficult to pinpoint the exact location of the leak. However, the most common places where leaks occur are at A/C unit hose connections.

It's sometimes possible to see an oily substance accumulating around these connections, which is likely the source of the leak.

Reason #2: The Condenser is Blocked

Your car's air conditioning unit has a condenser that cools down the hot refrigerant after it's compressed. This process relies on the air flowing through the front of your vehicle to transfer heat to the airflow. Unfortunately, road debris can obstruct the condenser and prevent it from cooling the refrigerant effectively. When this happens, the refrigerant becomes overheated and cannot dissipate the heat, causing the air conditioning system to malfunction and blow warm air instead of cool air from the vents.

In most vehicles, the condenser is mounted at the front of the engine bay, so it should be easy You may want to check if there's anything that's blocking your car's grill. Removing it should be easy and can likely fix the issue.

Reason #3: The Condenser is Broken

If you don't see any obstructions in the condenser, it's likely that it's completely destroyed. A puncture from road debris passing through your car's grille and damaging the condenser or related equipment can cause a broken condenser. If there are noticeable punctures in the condenser, the only way to fix it is to replace it.

Reason #4: Electrical Issues

Electrical faults can be problematic to locate, given that electronic controls are interconnected with other systems. However, damaged wiring is often easy to identify and repair.

Reason #5: Faulty Condenser Cooling Fans

When the fans aren’t functioning correctly, the refrigeration process stops, and little or no cold air will be available.

The condenser cooling fans can be checked visually along with the electric wiring connecting them to the controls.

Reason #6: The Compressor Has Failed

The compressor is the heart of the car AC system; without it functioning, the refrigeration process stops.

If the refrigerant does not circulate through the system, you will not receive any cold air. The compressor usually fails due to extended periods of non-use. When the system is finally used again in the spring or summer after being dormant all winter, the lack of maintenance can cause a shock to the system.

For the optimal solution to this problem, we suggest turning up you’re A/C to the highest setting for a minimum of 15 minutes approximately once every three weeks, irrespective of the weather conditions outside. This will effectively maintain the compressor's mechanical state and enhance its longevity.

Require help with your car's air conditioner? Don't worry, as it may not be a lost cause. We will diagnose the issue and provide you with a cost estimate for the necessary repairs.

31 Point Car Air-conditioning Service & Re-Gas.

Your safety is of utmost importance when it comes to the gas used in your vehicle's air conditioning system. It is regulated by Queensland law to ensure that only approved gases are used. It is crucial to have trained professionals handle any work related to your vehicle's air conditioning system. Using unapproved gases or allowing untrained individuals to work on you’re A/C can result in severe safety hazards and costly damage to your air conditioning system.

Please be aware that it is both unlawful and not recommended to recharge an automotive A/C system that has a known leak. As a result, our policy mandates a comprehensive inspection and leak testing of each vehicle before adding any refrigerant gas to the system.
