Automotive Battery Types

DEEP CYCLE BATTERIES: Deep cycle batteries are built to deliver a consistent current flow for extended durations, although they can offer a power surge when required. Battery Terminology

BATTERY TERMINAL:

Every battery features a negative and positive terminal; these terminals are where cables attach, enabling an electrical current to move from the battery to power the engine and other features in the car. It's important to frequently inspect battery terminals for grime or corrosion, as these can damage the battery.

BATTERY SIZE:

Size or group size refers to the height, width and length of the battery, designed to different sizes to fit most cars’ battery trays. Batteries are grouped by BCI (Battery Council International) Group Number. It’s important to note that while the same battery will fit many vehicles, other factors play a role in choosing the right battery for your car.

BATTERY AGE:

You can find out how old the battery is by looking at its production date. If a battery is younger than six months, it's regarded as "fresh". Date codes typically start with a letter and a number, and they are usually printed on the battery's case or sticker. The battery's production month is indicated by a letter (A represents January, B represents February, etc.), and the year is shown by a number (4 means 2024, 5 means 2025, etc.).

DEAD BATTERY:

If a battery can't supply enough power for electrical functions, it's considered dead. The battery's performance can be affected by various elements, encompassing weather, driving habits, usage frequency, issues with parts such as an alternator or its belt, and the batteries age.
